Are We There Yet? Part 2: What's Keeping You from Trusting God?

Trusting God can be difficult especially when the plan He has for you does not line up with the plans that you have created for yourself.

Last month, I asked you to change your travel plans and let go of itineraries; to take off your hiking boots, do away with your back packs, get out of the car and come away with me. Was that a difficult task for you? Did you have a lot of questions or concerns? Did you need to know all of the details? If so, that’s okay. If you’re a planner like me, it would make sense that you would want to know where you’re going and to make sure you have everything you need for the trip. Besides, what I asked of you perhaps seemed, I don’t know, a little far out there? And it’s only because you’ve never traveled this way before, and neither have I.
But I just want to remind you that we didn’t plan this trip, but God invited us to come along. This is an all-expense paid trip, and everything we will need for this Spiritual journey in the Synod, God will provide. He will give us the resources that we need when we let go of our plans, relinquish control, and believe.
Perhaps the most difficult part of this task was asking you to see yourself floating in water and then see yourself floating in the wind. I know it was difficult for me, because I can’t swim. So my first mental hurdle was to get over the fear of water so I could get into the wind and allow it, the Spirit to lead and guide me where it desires to lead. In order to get to the place where God wants to take us, we have to let go of our plans for His plan.
This is just another step in our journey. Are you there yet? What’s keeping you from allowing you to go where the Spirit leads? More to follow, until next time, allow yourself to be free in this Spiritual journey and allow Him to take the lead.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to thy own understanding; In all they ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
