During the recent government shutdown, rising food costs and disrupted support systems have increased food insecurity for many families. In response, the generosity of our communities has been overwhelming. Members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) have stepped forward in powerful ways—organizing food drives, filling pantries, and sharing resources to ensure neighbors do not go without. This outpouring of care reflects our shared commitment to compassion and justice, especially in challenging times.
As we move through Advent and toward the Christmas season, we are reminded that preparing room for Christ also means making room for one another. This season of hope calls us to acts of love and generosity, and our communities have answered that call with faith in action. The true spirit of Christmas is seen in these acts of giving that bring light to those facing uncertainty.
For individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, help is available. Through continued generosity, prayer, and action, we affirm that no one should face hunger alone—during Advent, at Christmas, or throughout the year.
