History of Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church

Following the construction of a causeway and bridge connecting Jekyll Island to the mainland in 1954, the state of Georgia began developing the island as a year-round residential and resort area. In 1958 a Presbyterian Church began to meet in historic Faith Chapel built in 1904 for the members of the Jekyll Island Club who owned the island until 1947

In June 1960 Rev. David Boozer moved to the island to organize a Presbyterian Church, the name chosen Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church.

All services and classes were held in Faith Chapel until construction of the church building was completed with the first service being held April 28, 1963.

Through the tenure of six ministers the church has continued to be a place of worship and refuge for island residents and visitors alike.
