To
celebrate the life and ministry of a gifted and gracious educator,
The South Atlantic and Puerto Rico Region of APCE, created a scholarship
fund in memory of Martha May Holman. Martha died January 21, 2001
at Westminster Oaks, in Tallahassee, FL.
She was a lifelong Presbyterian and loved the church. She
lived life with a grand sense of humor and shared with the church
a multitude of insight into the church being a community of faith.

Into Creation |
|
Savannah Presbytery Offers:
Into Creation: The Okefenokee Swamp
at Stephen C. Foster State Park, Georgia
A Journey to “The Land of Trembling Earth”
May 5, 6 and 7, 2006
The Okefenokee is a swamp almost unique in the
world, and we’ll find out how and why it exists
and deserves protecting. We’ll arrive Friday
evening and spend both days paddling in the
relatively open waters of Billy’s Lake, named
after Seminole Billy Bowlegs. We may explore by
foot Billy’s Island, the site of a once-thriving
logging town. We’ll also investigate the more
intimate canoe trails where there is just room
for our canoes between the buttressed bases of
the cypress trees and lily pads. The sky
reflects perfectly in the mirror dark waters,
and we’ll find plants and animals with amazing
adaptations to living in this watery world where
the alligator is “top dog.” We will rest our
bones in deluxe cabins, and dine to hearty
organic meals. Sunday morning The Presbytery’s
own Carl Schlich, Executive Presbyter will
perform a morning worship service.
Cost: $185 per person (double occupancy, $90 per
extra person) financial assistance available
Arrive: Friday between 5 & 8:30pm Leave: Sunday
3pm
Families Welcome (Call to discuss
appropriateness for your child.)
Reservations must be made by April 1st.
